How the estimate works
For planning, daily wages and food use monthly amount × 12 ÷ 365. Notice in lieu uses one contractual month. Severance or long-service payment uses two-thirds of the lower of the monthly wage and HK$22,500 for each year of service, capped at HK$390,000. Statutory average-wage rules, dismissal reasons, MPF offset rules and contract facts may change the final amount.
Is this an official termination calculation?
No. This is a planning estimator. Statutory average wage rules can produce a different result, so ask the Hong Kong Labour Department or a qualified adviser for the official final calculation.
What is the minimum monthly wage used?
The calculator defaults to HK$5,100, the current minimum allowable wage used for this planning tool. Update it if your contract uses a different lawful wage.
When can severance or long service payment apply?
The estimator applies a two-year guard for severance and a five-year guard for long service payment. Eligibility also depends on the reason for termination and other statutory conditions.
